Alica Schmidt is a German runner. She was part of the national team that earned the bronze in the 4x400m relay event at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships, and third in the same discipline at the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships. Alica Schmidt was part of the German relay squad at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics.
Alica Schmidt was born on November 8, 1998, in Worms, Germany. She started in athletics as a child and developed her talent after attending the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences.
Alica Schmidt started her competitive career in 2013, winning the silver medals at the Forst Regional U16 Championships in 300m and Ingolstadt U16 Meeting in 800m.
In 2014, she already won the gold at the Munchen Ludwig Jall Sportfest, the silver at the Neustadt Laufermeeting U18 Meeting, and the bronze at the Regensburg Rolf Watter Sportfest in 800m, as well as the gold at the Munchen Regional U16 Championships in 400m.
In 2015, Alica Schmidt made her debut at the junior national championships, finishing 4th in 400m at the Jena German U18 Championships and competing at the Neubrandenburg German Junior Indoor Championships. During the season, she won the gold at the Furth Regional Indoor U18 Championships and Markt Schwaben Regional Championships in 400m.
Alica Schmidt focused mostly in 400m running in 2016, gaining experience in athletics but again missing the honor for a while at the Monchengladbach German U20 Championships after finishing 4th in 400m. Meanwhile, she earned the gold at the Augsburg U20 Meeting, ALP Landerkampf, and Erding Regional U20 Championships in 400m.
Alica Schmidt made her breakthrough in 2017, being part of the German 4x400m relay team to compete at the Grosseto European U20 Championships and won the silver. Earlier during the season she won the 400m bronze at the Sindelfingen German U20 Indoor Championships and 400m silver at the Ulm German U20 Championships.
Alica Schmidt made her national championships debut in 2018, competing in her untraditional 400m hurdles. However, she achieved great results, finishing 5th at the Nurnberg German Championships, but also won the silver at the Heilbronn German U23 Championships.
In 2019, Alica Schmidt achieved another European honor, winning the 4x400m relay bronze at the Gavle European U23 Championships. At the individual events, she finished 6th at the Berlin German Championships and won the bronze at the Wetzlar German U23 Championships in 400m, as well as finished 5th at the Oslo Clean Air Games in 200m.
In 2020, Alica Schmidt continued competing at a high level, winning the gold at the Dessau Anhalt 2020 and the bronze at the Poznan Grand Prix Meeting in 400m, but also finished 4th at the Braunschweig German Championships and the Karlsruhe Indoor Meeting in the same event.
Alica Schmidt started the 2021 season strongly by winning the 400m silver at the Dortmund PSD Bank Indoor Meeting and finishing 4th at the Dortmund German Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, she won the bronze at the Mannheim Road To Tokyo and finished 7th at the Braunschweig German Championships in 400m. She was part of the German relay team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics but did not compete.
In 2022, Alica Schmidt won her first national championship honors, winning the 400m silver at the Leipzig German Indoor Championships and the 400m bronze at the Berlin German Championships. She competed at the Munich European Athletics Championships in 400m and 4x400m relay, finishing 5th in the later. She was also part of the German 4x400m mixed relay and 4x400m relay teams for the Eugene World Athletics Championships but did not overcome the heats in both competitions. Meanwhile, she earned the 4x400m relay gold at the Regensburg Sparkassen Gala and Berlin Lauferabend, but also won the 400m bronze at the Berlin ISTAF 2022 and 400m gold at the Grosseto Castiglione International Meeting.
In 2023, Alica Schmidt recorded her best performance at the world championships, finishing 7th at the Budapest World Athletics Championships in the 4x400m mixed relay. Meanwhile, she won the bronze at the Kassel German Championships, the silver at the Sparkassen Gala Regensburg, and the gold at the 10. Breuninger Hallenmeeting in 400m.
Alica Schmidt started the 2024 season by being a vice-champion at the Leipzig German Indoor Championships in 400m and winning the gold in the 4x200m relay.
