Elizabeth Hurley is one of the most popular TV personalities/actors out there, who has actually been a part of the industry since the late 1980s. Now 58, the British icon has amassed an impressive portfolio of roles and is known for her fashion endeavors, beauty, and obvious acting talent.

It has seen her land roles in hit projects such as Runaways, The Royals, and the Gossip Girl series, which first came out on ABC in 2011. The actress has also had an eventful love life, most notably known to have dated actor Hugh Grant and former Australian cricketer Shane Warne. However, there are a range of facts fans might not know about her, and we look at five of those in this article.

1) She wanted to become a dancer

There is little doubt that Elizabeth Hurley’s fashion career and acting skills made her one of the most well-known faces of her generation. However, before making it in the industry, she actually harbored dreams of becoming a professional dancer.

The multi-talented star took private ballet lessons and also enrolled at the London Studio Centre in a bid to become a pro. However, she was expelled after three years and eventually left the field due to opportunities in acting and other fields.

 


2) She was once fined $100k by the Screen Actors Guild

Fans of the industry will be well aware that the Screen Actors Guild tends to govern a range of activities across the industry. The SAG was also prominently involved in the recent Hollywood strike, and previously, in 2001, had stipulated a 5-month strike for actors.

 

However, she ended up breaking a rule, as she was featured in an advertisement for Estee Lauder, which became a hugely controversial act. Due to the controversy, Elizabeth Hurley was eventually fined $100k and given a warning.


3) She is a major philanthropist

Hurley is no stranger to being on the news for a variety of reasons. However, not many will be aware that she is a major philanthropist and is actually associated with multiple charities and initiatives.

Apart from being a member of the Estee Lauder Breast Cancer Awareness program, she has also worked to raise money for multiple charitable organizations, including The Ark Children’s Charity and the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital. The actress is also part of the City Veterans network and regularly donates to a range of causes.


4) She is a notable fashion designer

Elizabeth Hurley’s vast array of talents means that she has been a long-term spokesperson for Estee Lauder in general and spearheaded a range of philanthropic initiatives for the designer. She actually has a 16-year contract with the company and has also created her fashion line.

 

The actress has worked in the past for MANGO, and has been on the cover of the Vogue magazine multiple times in the past.


5) She has had her fair share of relationships

While her relationship with Hugh Grant was big news when it happened in 1987, she has been in a number of other public relationships as well. Hurley experienced motherhood for the first time with Steve Bing, with whom she had her son Damian Charles.

The actress has since been married to Indian businessman Arun Nayar and was also involved in a long-term relationship with Shane Warne and notable millionaire David Yarrow. Hence, she has had her fair share of ups and downs in her personal life and is currently known to be single.
