Savannah Guthrieâs absence from the âTodayâ Show surprised fans, with Craig Melvin filling in for her.
It was later revealed that she was on a book tour for her latest work, âMostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere,â
where she recently had a stop in Texas, supported by former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush.
However, Guthrie faced backlash from fans after an interview aired right before her tour.
She spoke with Kelly Rowland about her upcoming Netflix film, âMea Culpa,â but fans were upset that Guthrie brought up Rowlandâs close friend,
BeyoncĂ©, during the conversation. One viewer called it âvery disrespectful to ask [Rowland] about BeyoncĂ© every freaking time she comes on your show.â
Guthrieâs focus on BeyoncĂ© instead of Rowlandâs film left many viewers frustrated, sparking conversations about respecting intervieweesâ boundaries.
As Guthrie continues her book tour, it remains to be seen how the âTodayâ Show will address the controversy and move forward.
