While the video took Welch’s popularity to new heights, she admitted that it was not something she wanted to be known for. She stated:
“I don’t really like that to be my image. Like, Hawk Tuah Girl? I just don’t see that being… I don’t want to be known as that.”
For the unversed, the 21-year-old rose to fame after describing a s*xual act as “hawk tuah” in a man-on-the-street interview, and it became a widely used meme ever since.
Welch and Lapaglia went on to talk about the aftermath of Welch’s video, including the flood of fake accounts on social media claiming to be her. She elaborated:
“They started spelling my name wrong and started making accounts of me. They got pictures from my friend’s social media accounts and stuff like that… It’s kind of creepy seeing your face on another account that doesn’t belong to you.
Hailey Welch admitted that she’s not on social media, a choice she’d made long before the viral “Hawk Tuah Girl” clip blew out.

In her interview with Brianna Lapaglia, Hawk Tuah Girl pointed out all the false information being shared about her on social media. She added that she is neither a teacher nor a bartender, as what was previously spread online. She said:
“I work in a spring factory. I’m not a school teacher.”
Host Lapaglia told Welch that the news going around was that the latter was a school teacher who got fired from her job as a result of her viral video. The Nashville native replied:
“No. I’m not even old enough to be a teacher.”
She added that she’s not a bartender either. Further dispelling rumors about her, including that her dad is a preacher, Hailey Welch noted:
“My father is so far from a preacher it’s crazy.”
Everything about her that’s been circulating on the internet following the “Hawk Tuah Girl” clip is made up, and “none of it is true at all.”
As for her plan for the future, Hailey Welch said that there’s more to come.
