Minutes after Kamala Harris stepped off the stage after the US presidential debate, Taylor Swift took to Instagram to endorse her for the 2024 Presidential elections. In the Instagram post dated September 10, 2024, Swift made it clear who she’ll be voting for in the upcoming elections and stated:
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.”
Swift signed off on her endorsement by calling herself “Childless Cat Lady” and posting a picture of posing with her cat to reference Trump’s running mate JD Vance’s comment on Harris in a 2021 interview where he called her a childless cat lady.
While Taylor Swift’s endorsement garnered a lot of attention, Elon Musk decided to give his two cents on it as well. Musk took to X on September 11, 2024, and tweeted:
“Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.”
Elon Musk’s comment on Swift’s endorsement has ignited a response from internet users wherein one of the X users called Musk out and mentioned:
“You are creepy and weird.”
“Taylor wants precisely zero to do with you,” an X user stated.
“Am I reading this right that you are offering to have a child with Taylor Swift,” another X user clarified.
“wtf??? Why are you all so damn weird,” an internet user questioned.
“So this is what ick looks like,” another internet user mentioned.
“Sir you have reached unseen levels of divorced. No one has ever been more divorced than you in this moment.” an X user commented on Elon Musk’s previous relationships.
An internet user also commented on how Swift’s endorsement won’t contribute to changing who people support in the elections:
“Nobody, and I mean nobody is changing their vote based off of what Taylor Swift says. Nobody cares.”

Endorsing Kamala Harris via an Instagram post, Taylor Swift addressed her fans stating she watched the debate like many of them and for those who haven’t it is important they do their research on the candidates. She mentioned that she read and watched everything about Trump and Harris’ plans and proposed politics for the U.S.A.
Furthermore, Swift acknowledged an incident from August 2024 wherein Donald Trump posted multiple AI-generated images falsely depicting Swift and her fans endorsing Trump for president on Truth Social. She said that the incident conjured up her fears about AI and the negatives of spreading misinformation.
She mentioned:
“It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Highligting the importance of researching the candidates, Taylor Swift stated:
“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.”
The Love Story singer addressed first time voters by stating that they have to be registered in order to vote.
In her Instagram endorsement for Kamala Harris, Taylor Swift mentioned that she’s voting for Harris “because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
She also called Harris a “gifted leader” stating that she was impressed by her selection of Tim Walz as her running mate as he has been a champion for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s right to their bodies.
