McKayla Maroney’s fans have gotten used to a pattern on her Instagram. Most, if not all,
photos showing her in a certain necklace have now been edited to confirm that she no longer owns the item,
and this was the case in her October 2021 post. Snapping outdoor selfies as she showed off her fit figure in a cute look,
McKayla stunned her 1.3 million followers with another stylish outfit, but there was more to it as the “edit” revealed what she’d “[thrown] out.”
Fans loved the duo of photos, which showed the California-born gymnast in a sporty bra top and chic daywear pants.
Skimpy Spandex Look Outdoors
Scroll for the photos. Posing from a red brick path amid neat front yard lawns and white picket fencing,
McKayla showed off her good looks and her curves as she posed in a skintight, low-cut sports bra in black.
Going double-banded at the straps as she flashed her cleavage and toned abs, the Olympic gymnast swung a hip in her monochrome herringbone pants,
affording a slight wintry feel to her sporty look and nailing the athleisurewear-come-daywear trend.
Sending the camera a smile as she stretched both arms in front of her, McKayla kept glam with her dark locks down, also going girly with a blush-heavy face of makeup and matte red lip.

In a swipe right, McKayla posed shot closer up and lifting one hand to brush away her hair. Both images showed the London 2012 Olympics star wearing a gold pendant necklace, and the caption is now all about it.
“**Edit caption: I don’t wear this necklace anymore. I threw it out, along with a lot of other new age things.
At the time I thought it was “angelic” and of God, and “spiritual protection” but I was wrong.
Jesus is the only spiritual protection we need. :)” Maroney wrote. Fans barely seem to have spotted the caption, though. “Stunning,” one replied. “Wow what a beautiful Gorgeous girl you are so beautiful,” another told the Miage Beauty partner.
Stunning In Her Skimpy Pool Bikini
McKayla kept her caption much shorter for this IG post, posing in a girly, hot pink bikini from a pool with bubbly features and sending her fans the warmest, softest smile. “October 1st,” she wrote with a heart emoji.
Says Coaches Wanted Everyone ‘Skinny’
McKayla is a mental health warrior who continues to bravely open up about her past, which has included being the victim of horrific sexual assaults at the hands of now-jailed USA Gymnastics physician Larry Nassar.
“Our coaches were so focused on us being skinny and us being the best to get the gold medal for their own ego,” she told Elle about the pressures she faced to stay thin while competing. McKayla has recovered from the eating disorder that once plagued her and now prioritizes health and balance.
